Sommerakademie Paul Klee 2023/24

The first meeting of the eight Residents 2023/24 and curator Andrea Thal in Bern took place from 12–19 August 2023. Based on the eight days' focus on methodologies, the Residents were invited to choose the format of their presentations according to the specific content and local context of their practice. The presentations echoed further in meetings and exchanges with different collectives active in Bern and Zurich. Around the middle of the eight days gathering, they found reflection, respite and useful tools for self-care and working with groups of people in somatic workshops with Care, a trauma-informed care practitioner, artist & doula who works on re-membering embodied experiences. The Sommerakademie session was concluded with the closing event on the last day of the programme, in the public park behind Kunsthalle Bern.

After the first meeting in Bern, the group remained connected as the earth completed its 149.6 million km orbit. The second meeting in Bern took place from 10-17 August 2024. The exhibition "Finding Our Feet: On Methodologies of Resilience" showcased in Cabane B* and Grand Palais the diverse ways the Residents 2023/24 and Andrea Thal situated, studied, and articulated resilience throughout their practices. In this exhibition and its accompanying public events, they reflected on their experiences and shared the methodologies they have developed for confronting challenges and fostering growth. They invite the public to explore their work and consider the various forms of resilience, transformation, and persistence that might inspire people to find their own footing.

Sommerakademie Paul Klee – February 2022

In February 2022, the Sommerakademie Paul Klee (SPK) finally met in Bern again. Over the course of seven days, the residents and curator Dora García visited some important (cultural) organizations in Bern, had workshops, group discussions and had access to the labs of the Bern Academy of the Arts HKB.

In August 2021, the Sommerakademie Paul Klee (SPK) presented a digital program, curated by artist Dora García. Over the course of seven days, the SPK featured 14 public lectures with three international Speakers 2021, the new Residents 2021/22, and the curator herself.
